"The VRSII is making exciting advances by providing innovative educational experiences for interpreters and interpreter educators through engaging and relevant programming. Their state-of-the-art instructional suite is user friendly and conducive to learning." - Carol Patrie, Ph.D., CEO, Spectrum Concepts, Inc., Director of Curriculum and Instruction EIPES, Language Matters, Inc.
The VRS Interpreting Institute (VRSII) is a world-class training facility dedicated to life-long mentoring and training. The VRSII offers on-going education for Interpreting Education Program (IEP) graduates and IEP educators.
As a leader in interpreting education, the VRSII utilizes contemporary research-based teaching. The VRSII, located in Salt Lake City, is unique in the United States and Canada in its educational offering.
The VRSII was founded to provide further education for Interpreter Education Program (IEP) graduates to bridge the gap between graduation and work-readiness. Courses, such as the School-to-Work Program trains students to pass the performance portion of the NIC exam. The additional skills obtained through VRSII courses prepare graduates to move confidently and proficiently into the professional interpreting environment.
The VRSII contributes and responds to professional research trends and practices. Esteemed ASL interpreter educators and lecturers are frequent guest teachers and speakers at the VRSII. They work closely with class and lecture participants to develop curriculum for nationally-accepted ASL training programs that class participants can implement in their own IEPs.
The mission of the VRS Interpreting Institute is to provide innovative educational experiences that empower interpreter educators and interpreters to achieve professional excellence.
The VRS Interpreting Institute seeks to create an environment in which interpreters and interpreter educators can advance their skills to the highest possible levels.
