Sorenson VRS Innovative Interpreter Education Award

Sorenson Communications® created the Sorenson VRS® Innovative Interpreter Education Award to recognize interpreter education programs (IEPs) that are raising interpreter education standards and enhancing the overall quality of professional interpreting. Each year, Sorenson awards one IEP that exceeds typical educational standards, leverages technology and incorporates interaction with the Deaf community into its program. The award is open to all two- and four-year degree-granting IEPs in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

The winning IEP will receive a $10,000 grant to further the mission and goals of the IEP. Faculty from the winning IEP will participate in a best-practices “Innovator’s Showcase,” to be held at the winning IEP, sponsored and hosted by the VRSII.

Applications for the 2018 award will be accepted through June 30, 2018. The winning IEP will be notified by Aug. 31, 2018. Applications received after June 30, 2018 will be considered for the 2019 award.

Sorenson Communications works with independent, third-party raters to screen and recommend award winners. To see rater bios, click here.
